Bishop's Gate Results Round One

Mon Sep 22, 2008, 7:28 PM
:iconcardboard-jukebox: Vs. :iconklast:

Story: The story in C-J's entry, despite the lack of text, flowed well and was pretty easy to follow. Though the fight between Izar and Klast was brief, and a bit of a one-hit KO, C-J came up with a creative way to explain why two almost pacifistic characters would fight. [Points awarded: 3/6]

Klast's entry contained a lot more action, while still allowing for a considerable bit of story and character interaction. The fight between Klast and Izar was pretty intense, with an interesting reason given for them fighting in the first place. The fight lasted a good while, with blows exchanged from both sides, making neither character seem too overpowered. [Points Awarded: 5/6]

Characterization: Izar is a very interesting character to have in a tournament such as the Nightmare Tournament, due to the fact that she's a bit of a coward. This makes one wonder how she would manage to pull through the later rounds, which makes me want to see more of her, and whether or not she can overcome her shortcomings. [Points awarded: 3/6]

Klast and Cresent are a very interesting duo. It's intriguing to see how they interact with one another throughout the story, with Klast aiming to protect Cresent. At the end of Klast's entry, a bit of his softer side is revealed when he feels regret for freezing Izar, leading one to wonder how he would react to later matches and giving him some depth. [Points Awarded: 4/6]

Art: Due to the lack of text in C-J's entry, it relies completely on the art to carry the story through, and it does a wonderful job of such. The art is clear, panel placement flows quite well, and at no point was I confused as o what was going on. [Points Awarded: 3/3]

Klast's writing was a tad bit difficult to understand at times, and there were a few minor spelling and grammar errors. On top of this, it was occasionally difficult to follow what was going on. [Points Awarded: 2/3]

:iconoh-feelshy: Vs. :iconlove-rhino:

Story: Love-rhino's entry had me almost in tears from the many humorous moments throughout. Baap is a very intriguing character, and his interactions with the other characters, from his opponent Marcky to his father, were quite fun to read. Though the panel layout was a tad cramped, the story still managed to flow understandably, and the ending leaves room for many future misadventures. [Points Awarded: 5/6]

Oh-feelshy's story was simply marvelous, with amazing interaction between the two characters in both intense and humorous situations. O-FS also managed to end their entry with a cliffhanger that both leaves the reader wondering what happens next, as well as leaving their opponent with a springboard for a possible story of their own. The story in this entry was both fun and easy to follow. [Points Awarded: 6/6]

Characterization: Baap is a very intriguing character. Though cowardly for the mosr part, he's also shown a brave and quick-witted side. His problems with living up to his father's expectations make for interesting reading, and make one want to see more of his exploits. [Points Awarded: 6/6]

Marcky is an adorable character, in both appearance and mannerisms. His personality alone makes him quite interesting to read about, since one wants to know how else this little guy can get out of situations. [Points: 6/6]

Art: Love-rhino's entry could have benefitted from more backgrounds, as well as better, less-cramped panel layout. Despite this, the characters are very well-illustrated and the action is easy to follow. [Points Awarded: 2/3]

The art in O-FS's entry was impressive: Easy to read, detailed, and with magnificent panel layout. They also did a good job with action scenes, and drawing both their opponent's character and their own. This entry was a delight for the eyes. [Points Awarded: 3/3]
